I'm sorry

Standing on the border between life and death, eyes enthralled by the flickering light that caresses waves forming a shaken mirror, I look back. A reflection of that young, not-meticulous child playing chess in that tasteless sweater, hair messy and loose, evokes the times it felt right to be myself. I apologize! The echoes heard now are forgotten promises made on those glorious family days, next to a restless sea which I once believed to be my whole universe. Sorry! Tasting salty tears rumbling down red cheeks and landing on a class photo album was how first day of college started, but no matter how much it hurt, we said goodbye. Forgive me! 4 part-time jobs, 5 awards, 2 scholarships and graduation still ended in anguish, as plans got distorted, hopes shattered, dreams watered-down, seeing the world adjourned. I regret! It’s sorry to myself, an apology no one should voice, but this tingling fear shall not give peace in nothingness unless presented with tangible proof that I kindly embraced the child the adolescent the student the graduate and yours truly. So look forward to falling and learn to get back up! Maybe one day you will fall for life, son, and then, words can change to Thank You!
